Search for dark photon production at BABAR
نویسنده
چکیده
We present a search for a dark photon, a new massive vector boson interacting weakly with Standard Model particles, using data collected with the BABAR detector. No statistically significant deviations from the Standard Model predictions are seen, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the mixing strength between the photon and dark photon are set at the level of 10−4 − 10−3 for dark photon masses in the range 0.02 − 10.2GeV.

Search for a dark photon at BABAR
We present the results of a search for a dark photon decaying to e + e − or µ + µ − in the BABAR detector [1]. We find no evidence for such a dark pho-ton and set upper limits on the dark mixing as a function mass, tightening the constraints on the parameter space of several dark sector theories. The notion of dark matter was introduced over 80 years ago by Zwicky [2]. In the intervening years,...
متن کاملSearching for Dark Photons
Researchers have studied electron-positron (e+e-) collisions for interactions that produce a normal photon γ and a dark photon A′ that interacts with ordinary matter particles. The dark photon can potentially decay into an e+epair (shown here) or a μ+μpair (not shown). However, the latest results from the BaBar collaboration offer no sign of dark photons, thus placing new limits on these types ...
متن کاملProbing the Dark Sector with Dark Matter Bound States.
A model of the dark sector where O(few GeV) mass dark matter particles χ couple to a lighter dark force mediator V, m_{V}≪m_{χ}, is motivated by the recently discovered mismatch between simulated and observed shapes of galactic halos. Such models, in general, provide a challenge for direct detection efforts and collider searches. We show that for a large range of coupling constants and masses,...
متن کاملProbing Dark Forces and Light Hidden Sectors at Low-Energy e+e− Colliders
A dark sector — a new non-Abelian gauge group Higgsed or confined near the GeV scale — can be spectacularly probed in low-energy e+e− collisions. A low-mass dark sector can explain the annual modulation signal reported by DAMA/LIBRA and the PAMELA, ATIC, and INTEGRAL observations by generating small mass splittings and new interactions for weak-scale dark matter. Some of these observations may ...
متن کاملSearch for exotics at BABAR
One of the most intriguing puzzles in hadron spectroscopy are the numerous charmonium-like states observed in the last decade, including charged states that are manifestly exotic. Over the years, the experiment BABAR has extensively studied those in B meson decays, initial state radiation processes and two photon reactions. We report in this paper new and additional studies on some of those sta...
